Kay H. Horton-Owner/President
Kay H. Horton is the Owner and President of Crossroads Environmental, LLC. She has been accredited in South Carolina and North Carolina since 2000 as an Inspector, Management Planner, Project Designer, and Air Monitor, and performs all of the duties for which she is accredited on a regular basis. She is also a Certified Indoor Environmental Consultant with experience in Indoor Air Quality Investigations, Protocol Design, and Project Management for mold remediation, and is experienced in performing a wide array of Industrial Hygiene Monitoring.
Ms. Horton served as Vice President of the Carolinas Environmental Information Association (www.carolinaseia.org/) in 2011.
Prior to CRE, Ms. Horton was employed by AAA Environmental, where she attained AIHA accreditation for their Polarized Light Microscopy Lab (for bulk asbestos analysis), and then managed the Consulting Department from 2002-2008. During her time at AAA, she managed numerous renovation and demolition projects which involved assessing the building for hazardous materials, preparing specifications for abatement, and managing the project.
Ms. Horton has a B.S. Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (Biology and Health Science) from the University of South Carolina-Upstate.

John N. McNamara-Indoor Air Quality and Sales
John N. McNamara has 20+ years of experience in the environmental consulting field.  Mr. McNamara’s duties at CRE include performing indoor air quality investigations including sampling for various types of airborne and bulk biocontaminants, identifying specific chemical-related problems associated with indoor air, and dust sampling for various particulates. He is also a Certified Toxic Drywall Inspector and a Certified EIFS Inspector.
He performs building investigations, hazard assessments and cost estimates for abatement activities; conducts air sampling and analysis for asbestos using the NIOSH 582 methodology; and conducts information seminars for real estate developers, architectural firms, other private industrial clients and professional organizations concerning environmental issues such as asbestos, lead-based paint, and regulatory requirements within the environmental arena.
Mr. McNamara has current or past affiliations with the American Conference of Government Industrial Hygienists, American Industrial Hygienist Association, South Carolina Environmental Information Association, American Arbitration Association, National Roofing Contractors Association, Roof Consultants Institute, President of Sales and Marketing Executives International, South Carolina School Business Officials, and Rotary International.

  Travis Williams-Field Operations and Quality Control
Travis Williams has been licensed as an Asbetos Inspector and Air Monitor since 2006, and is an EPA accredited Lead Inspector and Risk Assessor.  Mr. Williams has performed extensive environmental consulting services at nuclear power facilities, as well as in  the commercial , industrial, and state sectors. 
Mr. Williams manages the Field Operations and Quality Control Program for Crossroads Environmental, LLC.

Travis Shaw-Environmental Consultant

Travis Shaw is a licensed Air Monitor and Inspector.  Mr. Shaw has performed numerous asbestos inspection throughout South Carolina, and has performed air monitoring during asbestos abatement  projects for our healthcare, industrial, and school system clients.  Mr. Shaw has a B.S. Degree in Biology (minor in Chemistry) from South Carolina State University, and a Masters of Business Administration from Walden University, with a specialization in Project Management.

Judith A. Laughter-Administrative Assistant and Tank Specialist
Judith Laughter holds the position of Administrative Assistant, Asbestos Inspector, and Tank Specialist at Crossroads Environmental. Ms. Laughter has fifteen years of experience in Under Ground and Above Ground Storage Tank Compliance, petroleum spill cleanup and disposal, and filing State and Federal Tank Closure Reports. In addition to dealing with storage tanks, Ms. Laughter is experienced in the field of asbestos inspections, specifically with writing user-friendly reports that conform to all state and federal regulations.

David Day-CIH, CSP
Mr. Day is a Certified Industrial Hygienist and Certified Safety Proffesional with 28 years of increasing experience and responsibility in industrial hygiene and safety. He has worked as an industrial hygienist for NIOSH, was an industrial hygiene and safety consultant to the Department of Energy, served as a Division Health & Safety Manager for a global company, worked as the Corporate Industrial Hygienist and Safety Engineer for a fortune 100 company and later as a corporate EHS Audit Program Manager for a global manufacturing company. Mr. Day serves as  a Certified Industrial Hygienist for Crossroads Environmental, LLC.
Mr. Day is a past president of the local Piedmont Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers and continues to serve as an executive committee member, has served as a session arranger and moderator for the American Industrial Hygiene Association Conference, and serves in several other community committees and activities.
 
 
Bruce T. Bowyer-CIH, P.E., and Supervising Air Monitor (SAM)
Bruce T. Bowyer is a Certified Industrial Hygienist and Professional Engineer with over 30 years of knowledge in environmental, safety, and health compliance requirements for business and industry with the ability to translate identified regulatory issues into workable and cost-effective solutions. In addition, he is a knowledgeable professional in regulatory affairs for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) including Process Safety.
During his extensive career with his previous employer, he managed all aspects of Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) regulatory and policy compliance for the major chemical manufacturing site.  Mr. Bowyer  managed a staff of up to twelve EH&S professionals and handled a budget of $1.5 million.  Along with his management duties, he was responsible for: auditing on-site reviews of Industrial Hygiene programs and making recommendations for improving these programs.  He developed and implemented industrial hygiene and environmental programs for the site to ensure compliance with regulations. He was responsible for all aspects of chemical and physical hazards compliance for all domestic and international sites.  He led site staff in developing programs to meet compliance with the OSHA Process Safety Standard (1910.119), managed Waste and Release Reduction, Process Safety, Exposure Assessment and other programs to meet the requirements of American Chemical Council’s (formerly Chemical Manufacturers Association) Responsible Careä. He also led site staff and consultants to meet compliance with the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 and Title V air permitting program, successfully negotiating with South Carolina DHEC for a manageable Title V air permit.  He implemented a behavior based safety improvement utilizing Behavior Safety Technology (BST) techniques (employees observing employees) to develop new procedures for eliminating at-risk behaviors. This resulted in a reduction in OSHA Incident Rate (OIR) from 7 to <1.0 over four years.
Mr. Bowyer currently serves as CIH and North Carolina Supervising Air Monitor (SAM) for Crossroads Environmental, LLC.
